Movies Anywhere
Project Background
Disney Movies Anywhere streaming app had great content but was lacking in consistency, visual polish and was pretty difficult to use. The main goals of the redesign were to:
- Enable Regular Engagement by providing compelling reasons for frequent and sustained user engagement with the Movies Anywhere (MA) experience and offering fresh, unique content and clear utility throughout production, theater and in-home windows.
- Drive Movie Purchases by encouraging more purchasing within the MA ecosystem and growing personal collection sizes and transition customers from physical to digital transaction and ownership models.
- Provide New Marketing Tools by creating new opportunities for targeted marketing offers within MA and allow marketers to measure results and becoming the hub for movie content to consolidate fragmented marketing spending.
Disney also worked on a shared partnership agreement with other movie studios to allow for external IP in the app so the goal was to create a shared space for all the additional movie titles.
My role
I was leading the internal team and managing external agency to create a system of interaction, visual and motion components that make up core Movies Anywhere experience. I was deeply involved in every step of the design process:
- User research, business requirements
- Working with product team to align on mvp feature set
- Sketches, whiteboarding and wireframes
- Testing and evaluation
- Design systems (principles, guidelines, colors, typography, iconography)
- Implementation
