Project Background
In 2015 Riot Games, the maker of "League of Legends", invested $30 millions to develop an voice chat application that have additional features like editorial/video content production and gaming databases, as well as game-mod management. After 4 intense months of development we launched client, and 3 months later Amazon-owned video-game streaming company Twitch acquired Curse, which eventually became Twitch Desktop App.
One of the larger goals with Twitch Desktop App is to give streamers’ followers a place to connect, even when the streamer is offline. It also is further representation of how Twitch is re-imagining itself as more than just a place to watch live video — it’s working to become more of a true social network.
My Role
I joined Curse team a few month after the original Riot Games investment and was the first design hire to work on the client. Being pretty familiar with the iterative design process I jumped right in the Discovery phase and from there led every aspect of the product design. Starting from UX workshop and persona creation to high fidelity mockups, design artefacts hand off and additionally working on marketing materials to promote the application.
