PlayVS is the largest amateur esports and gaming platform in North America. We power a network of thousands of schools where Gen Z and Gen Alpha students compete on E and T rated games, while building important life and career skills.

PlayVS Umbrella includes Scholastic Product (High School & Middle School), Amateur Competition Product and Live Events. We also operate internal League set up tool called Checkpoint.
My Role
In a true start up nature, I am doing a little bit of everything. My team is responsible for everything design related at PlayVS from emote creation, event and broadcast branding and campaigns to nitty gritty features that let our users successfully compete in esports. My areas of expertise are:

Team Leadership & Mentorship: Building and mentoring high-performing design teams. Making sure my team gets enough visibility and recognition within the company.
Product Design: Driving the design of intuitive and engaging user interfaces across various platforms.
Design Systems: Implementing robust design systems and frameworks to ensure consistency and efficiency.
User Experience: Prioritizing user research and data-driven insights to optimize product experiences.
Marketing Design: Collaborating with the marketing team to create compelling brand assets and marketing materials.

Partnering for the Future of Esports
Beginning with the Spring 2024 season, PlayVS removed enrollment fees for all state and regional leagues, offering students access to competitions across all titles. We have been actively collaborating with organizations that share our passion for youth development and the power of esports. Together, we have been building an ecosystem that recognizes the value of esports and its potential to positively impact young lives. Having a robust design system as a foundation allowed us to seamlessly bring in external brand and make room for them in our UI. With each partner we were able to create a custom UI theme that would carry on through an experience of anyone in that brand's territory ensuring fun an engaging experience without losing PlayVS personality.
